Design, Planning and Modification of the services hatches on the HelWin beta converter station
b.offshore GmbH had received the order for the design and planning for the modification of the services hatches on the HelWin beta converter station from the grid operator TenneT (https://www.tennet.eu) in 2022.
In order to implement new HSE requirements, it was necessary to upgrade the opening and closing system for the five service hatches on the converter platform. All five service hatches have been upgraded with electrical winches including state of the art automation as well as hand railings around the openings.

The design works include structural steel design, calculations as well as electrical design and engineering works. The necessary materials for this retrofit have been provided by b.offshore.
The retrofit of the existing service hatches and the installation of the new system have been carried out by b.offshore GmbH. Work packages were electrical cable pulling throughout the platform, mechanical preparation works, welding, corrosion protection, installation, testing and commissioning.
The system has been taken over by TenneT in April 2023 and is in service since then. b.offshore thanks TenneT for the trust placed in us and the opportunity to once again demonstrate our versatility and adherence to deadlines.
